Bio

My name is Rogue...I'm originally from Mississippi. I'm involved in a lil' group of folks called the X-Men. You don't really wanna touch my skin unless you're feeling plucky (i.e. you feel like spending a couple of weeks in a coma).

Anna - Rogue - Marie Raven
Rogue was born in Caldecott County, Mississippi, to parents, Owen and Priscilla (both deceased). They lived in a commune and things were fairly "normal". She also had an aunt, Carrie. After her mother died, Rogue's relationship with her father worsened, and much of the care was taken over by her aunt.
After she kissed a boy (Cody Robbins) and absorbed his life-force, leaving him in a coma for 3 weeks, she ran away from home.

After she left home, she was discovered and adopted by Mystique/Raven Darkholme (Brotherhood of Mutants) and Destiny/Irene Adler (deceased). She has an adoptive brother, Kurt/Nightcrawler (X-Men). Her stepfathers have included Victor Creed/Sabertooth and Azazel (Kurt's father). She also had an adoptive brother Graydon Creed (deceased).

Rogue turned away from the Brotherhood of Mutants and Mystique, and towards the X-Men, after repeated uses of her powers and finally, the absorption of Ms. Marvel's psyche and Kree powers. Ms. Marvel's psyche threatened to take over Rogue's mind and she received help from Professor Charles Xavier. She still has a difficult time keeping the different personalities in her mind contained and controlled.

She eventually earned the respect and trust of the X-Men and became a valued team member. She now considers them to be her family.

PERSONAL:
She's a Southern Belle at heart, and is ALWAYS seen wearing a pair of gloves. She teaches mechanics at Xavier's Institute and loves working on engines, restoring motorcycles and cars, horseback riding, playing the blues on her guitar, and baking. Rogue heads a team on the X-Men, and she shares leadership of the team with Paige Guthrie. Also on her team are: Jubilation Lee, Illyana Rasputina, Megan Gwynn, and Sally Blevins.

Rogue is married to Joseph, and they are currently expecting their first child. (These children will be followed by these two - in this particular verse.)

Her relationship with her mother is...complicated.

In

beyondtherift, Rogue is not in a relationship at the moment (sticking a bit closer to comic-canon in the love-deptartment than in the description above). Her abilities and insecurities have made it entirely too difficult for her to have any kind of lasting relationship. The very few love interests she's had (most noted: Erik Lensherr -Magneto- and Remy LeBeau -Gambit- [no particular muses here]) were extremely tumultuous. Her background follows through to her joining the X-Men. She's been with them for a while now, however, once she crosses over to Chicago, a few things change. Notably, her abilities involving her skin undergo a large shift. When she touches someone (skin-to-skin), she does not absorb them (life-force, abilities, or memories). Instead, she will feel the pain that would normally affect the other person. She is still super-humanly strong and has the ability of flight, however, if she is hit she will be hurt. If she hits something with her strength, it will likely break her hand. If she falls from a distance, while flying, she will be injured upon impact. While she cannot absorb anyone else, she still has the 'people' trapped inside of her mind that she has already absorbed.

ABILITIES:
Rogue absorbs a mutant's abilities and psyche through touch. The longer she holds on, the longer she keeps the powers, and the worse the damage to whomever she is touching. If she touches someone long enough, they can die, and their powers can remain with her permanently. In the case of normal humans, her touch hurts them, renders them unconscious, and can kill them.
If she absorbs too much from anyone, their psyche can threaten to take over her mind.

She is not affected by many poisons and can survive outside Earth's atmosphere for a limited amount of time.

She absorbed Ms. Marvel's powers of flying, stamina, durability, and super-strength permanently.

...Note: Due to all of the people she has absorbed into her mind, telepathy does cause her 'pain'. It's not enough to incapacitate her, but it will cause discomfort. It's not something she likes to advertise, however.
Also, she can draw on other abilities she has previously 'drained' by releasing the personality that is trapped in her mind. This is difficult for her, however, and she has a hard time controlling the personality and returning them afterward.

Another note: Obviously, Rogue veers from canon with her current team, and her marriage/pregnancy with Joseph. This is simply a different take on a series of 'what if' situations.
